When Mandi contacted me for Jayden’s Oakland and Cumberland Birth Photography at Frederick Memorial Hospital, I jumped at the chance. I love photographing births and being a wedding photographer gives me an advantage for this HUGE day in your life. Being on my toes for every important tiny second during this process requires experience in capturing unpredictable events. Artfully photographing these details that you will want to remember is a serious job. I want you to remember this experience as something beautiful, as a moment where you were so powerful and incredible, and as a day so full of love your heart grew ten times bigger!

The few photos I have of my children right after they were born are so precious to me. If my house caught on fire, and I could only grab one material possession, it would certainly be my photographs – my memories, those irreplaceable items. You don’t get to live this day over again. For a wedding, you can put your dress on again, you get to keep that new last name forever, you’ll get to inhale the smell of the same flowers you used in your wedding bouquet, but for a birth – your baby will never be that small again, she will never have that new baby smell again, and you won’t get to re-live any pieces of that experience. This happens ONCE for a very short period of time! (in the big picture – two days labors are not fun, I’m sure! Mine were 18 hours and 4 hours. I know, I know… But, those are days were I felt like all was right in the world. If I could re-live those moments I would – again and again.)

Jayden is a very loved little boy! The entire family was so very excited for his arrival, especially big sister! He was a little stubborn to come at first, but once labor was in full swing, he was quick to join his mama and papa. He arrived 7 minutes after I entered the labor room. Talk about BEING ON YOUR TOES and BEING PREPARED. . . Here is Jayden’s super awesome first day on this planet. Welcome to Earth, little boy!
