This session was a dream come true! I am so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful role models of amazing mothers. Kyra is mama bear to three (soon to be four!) littles and also runs a full-time photography business. AND, she’s one of my business partners for Mountain Mama Birth Photography. This lady can do it all! I was so honored to capture these fleeting moments for her. Her mother-daughter session was a dream and equally as beautiful as the mother-son session we did.
Being a mom may be a forever job, but we don’t get to keep our children little forever.
What do you think of when you think of motherhood? Do you think of your own mother, your aunt, your grandmother, or even yourself? Do you think about the babies you’ve raised and where they are right now in their life? Mothers come in many forms in our lives. These two have a beautiful bond that, to me, is the epitome of the mother-child bond.

Motherhood.
The word alone is a synonym with strength, beauty, and unconditional love.
In my line of work, I get to document your memories, laugh when you laugh, cry when you cry, and feel the weight of your love for your family. And, I cherish every single moment of it.
I know I constantly say that these moments are fleeting… temporary, transient, short-lived, but it is important to capture these memories as they happen. You’ll blink, and your children will be grown and ready to fly with their own wings. My mama heart can’t take it.
Myla is Kyra’s oldest child, and from the images alone, you can tell how much they love each other. Before the new baby arrives, Kyra wanted to squeeze in a few mommy + me sessions with her children. The boys romped around Downtown Cumberland, and when it came time for Myla’s, we wanted to do something magical.
We went on an adventure and found an ethereal location among the streams, rocks, and waterfalls of Maryland. Kyra ordered these Sew Darn Cute gowns, and I captured this incredible mother-daughter relationship. The way they dance among the trees and upon the rocks makes my gypsy soul sing.
Document, document, document! I say it all the time, and I’ll continue to say it. Capture the journey that is your life. Tell your story. Savor the moments with photographs you can share for generations.
Our children don’t stay little forever, but our photographs will last until the end of time.
