Liz recently moved to Alexandria with her family and wanted DC birth photography to capture the story of her growing family. I photographed her, Bill, and Lincoln near Gaithersburg at Rock Creek Park for her maternity session. Lincoln and I played and giggled near the lake, and mama just glowed with the setting sun around her. Lincoln is hilariously fun as are his parents.
Liz and I kept in touch over the next few weeks as her due date approached. She planned to deliver at George Washington University Hospital in DC. I knew it would take me an hour to get to Liz and Lennox, so I had my bag packed and ready to run out the door. Liz texted me one morning while I was working and said that contractions had started but were slow. She didn’t know if she was in full blown labor, so I told her to talk to her doctor and to time them. I love Contraction Master for timing labor contractions. (I still have a screenshot of contraction times from my first labor!)
About 30 min later she said that Bill was coming home, and they were going to head to the hospital. I gathered my things, made arrangements for a neighbor to pick up my kids, and headed to DC. . . quickly! Liz said the contractions were coming faster and handed her phone to Bill. I was 20 minutes from the hospital when Bill texted and said Lennox had been born! Lennox’s birth was super speedy and super intense, and I captured his first moments in our world.
From the start he was an excellent nurser, even with a tongue-tie, which was fixed a few days later.
