How to get kick ass engagement photos

Engagement

It’s likely been a while since you’ve been in front of the camera, but I’m here to help you have an incredible experience during your engagement photography session. I’m typically photographing gorgeous locations near Deep Creek Lake and Cumberland, or capturing you in your own home/element. Here are some tips to help you feel prepared so you can just relax and enjoy yourself.

1. Plan your outfits.

I wrote a wholeeeee post on how to dress for your engagement session. Go check it out!

2. Relax. Relax. Relax.

Yeah, I know. Easier said than done BUT here’s the deal: This session is so I can get to know you. I’ll find your best angles, figure out what makes you laugh, and capture the best of you and your beloved. At the end you’ll feel like we were just hanging out with snippets of time where I lead you through some relaxed posing. I’ll tell you what to do with your hands, face… all of it. Once you open up a little more, I’ll release the reigns for some real moments. Spontaneity is encouraged!

3. Choose a location that’s meaningful to you.

Could be a vacation spot, where you had your first date, or a place you like to frequent. We can go urban, woodsy, or even your own home. Don’t overlook your back yard! It can be a comfy, happy place too.

4. Make it unique.

It’s really pretty at the state park, but let’s try to include something that’s you… You love your doggo? Bring her! Like craft beers? Bring a few. Have pizza on your first date? Let’s have a picnic. Like working on cars? I’ll met you at the garage. Love playing games together? Let’s do it! Having an activity or item incorporated that you two love can make this even more fun and customized.

I’m allll ears if you have ideas or a vision. I can help you bring that to life! I can also just take the reins and lead you through the whole process from start to finish. I love what I do, and I can’t wait to share this passion with you!
